New York Comic Con 2016

Saber Guild: Empire Temple was not only invited to train younglings in the ways of the Force, but to entertain the gathered masses at New York Comic Con 2017 October 7-9.
Masters Kamyos and Koda, alongside Jedi Knights Ryn and Kandar instructed youngsters and helped them fight off three Sith Invasions between Friday and Sunday lead by the malevolent Darth Delirium, Mal Vanus, and Darth Fury. Congratulations to all the initiates from NYCC who conquered the challenge and attained the rank of Padawan! We especially appreciated all the tiny super heroes and villains who came by to take their first steps into a larger world.
Saber Guild also performed “Padawan Lost” on Friday and Saturday. Padawan Lost is the story of a young Jedi initiate abandoned by her Master and captured by the Sith. We follow her as she carves out her own destiny and her Master faces his mistakes. Amazingly, audiences were so eager to travel with us to a galaxy far, far away that we unfortunately had to turn some fans away at the door due to a packed house. Hopefully, we’ll be able to entertain even more Star Wars fans next year if given the chance.
This event also bid farewell to our member, Michael Valez, who is currently deployed to serve our country on a tour of duty with the US Marine Corps. We would like to take a moment to thank him for his service and to let him know that all of us on both sides of the Force are keeping his safety and his family in mind during his absence. May the Force be with you, brother! New York Star Wars Jedi
Lastly, we would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to New York Comic Con and ReedPOP for supporting our work and allowing us to share our fandom at the biggest comic expo on the East Coast. See you next year, NYCC! -Ryn Towani

How old do I have to be to attend class?
Becasue this is a combat based class attendees must be 18 years or older to attend on their own. Anyone between the ages of 13-17 may participate in class but MUST have a parent or guardian present throughout the time of rehearsal. Children under he age of 13 may attend as spectators but must remain outside of the practice space with their parent or guardian at all times.

I Have Never Done This Before–Is That OK?
It does not matter if you are new to lightsabers or have been rehearsing for years. Come to a class, have a great time and work up a sweat.

What Do I Need to Bring?
You need to bring the most important thing–YOU! It’s also a good idea to bring workout clothes (sweatpants and a T-shirt are just perfect) and comfortable shoes. You don’t need a lightsaber to start off–there are always extra to go around. However, if you plan on coming frequently we can help you find one that is just right for you. IMPORTANT: No toy lightsabers - combat sabers only. These things are cool and look great but they will break once you get going.

Saber Guild: Empire Temple is the New York City temple of Saber Guild: a Lucasfilm Ltd. recognized international Star Wars lightsaber performance and costuming organization. We are a not-for-profit fan group who performs at fan conventions, charity events, sporting events and official Star Wars events focusing specifically in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, The Bronx, Yonkers, and Westchester - and larger events around the world such as Star Wars Celebration.

We are choreographers, dancers, actors, artists, costumers, filmmakers and photographers who volunteer our time to share our love of Star Wars with the community. Our focus is on lightsaber performance for stage and film.

We always welcome new members to train in the ways of the Force. We hold weekly rehearsals and master sessions with guest instructors in stage combat, performance, martial arts and acting.
