Padawans demonstrate how strong they are in the Force

In October, Empire Saber Guild was proud to have been invited as first time Official Speakers at New York Comic Con. While some fans were waiting in line for panels, our Masters had the honor of teaching the ways of the Force to over 200 younglings, all while raising $150 for our local charity, St.Mary’s Children’s Hospital Network.

This opportunity could not have come at a more opportune time – especially with rumors of the Dark Side awakening in the coming months, Masters Kamyos Rehnard, Kaden Sunspear and Jace Enndo of Empire Saber Guild traveled to Earth to instruct some of the planet’s most promising Jedi Padawans. The classes were certainly diverse, including students who were previously pop stars, Pokemon Masters, and superheroes.

From the very first Force Push, we knew these students were strong in the Force. Students quickly learned the first form of lightsaber combat, Shii-Cho, before the Sith arrived to tempt the Padawans into turning to the Dark Side.

Some students were swayed, but the Jedi proved that the Light Side would always triumph. With the help of friends and family, the students were able to defend themselves by Force pushing the Sith out of the training room.

Free from the Dark Side, the students learned a final combination to defend themselves from Sith they might encounter in the future. Before concluding, the class took a quick holopic to document the meeting for the Temple Library Archives.

On behalf of Saber Guild, we would like to thank all the padawans who joined us at New York Comic Con. We are humbled by your talents and strength in the Force and hope we will be able to return to carry on this tradition next year. After all, you never know where and when the Dark Side may strike…

FAQ:
How old do I have to be to attend class?
Becasue this is a combat based class attendees must be 18 years or older to attend on their own. Anyone between the ages of 13-17 may participate in class but MUST have a parent or guardian present throughout the time of rehearsal. Children under he age of 13 may attend as spectators but must remain outside of the practice space with their parent or guardian at all times.

I Have Never Done This Before–Is That OK?
It does not matter if you are new to lightsabers or have been rehearsing for years. Come to a class, have a great time and work up a sweat.

What Do I Need to Bring?
You need to bring the most important thing–YOU! It’s also a good idea to bring workout clothes (sweatpants and a T-shirt are just perfect) and comfortable shoes. You don’t need a lightsaber to start off–there are always extra to go around. However, if you plan on coming frequently we can help you find one that is just right for you. IMPORTANT: No toy lightsabers - combat sabers only. These things are cool and look great but they will break once you get going.
